Privacy
RandoSite is built to work without an account, and we try to collect as little as possible. We don't use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, advertising trackers, or any other third-party tracking, advertising, or analytics service. Here's exactly what happens instead.
Browser storage
RandoSite stores a short list of destination ids you've recently been sent to in your browser's local storage, so we can avoid repeating the same site too soon — this is kept across visits because that's the only way the feature it supports (not immediately repeating a site) can work. Separately, for the current visit only, we store a randomly generated id and a click counter in your browser's session storage, which is automatically cleared when you close the tab or browser. None of this is tied to your name, email, or any account, and none of it leaves your device attached to anything identifying.
Analytics we collect ourselves
When you press the button, we log an event to our own database: which destination was shown, its category, whether it was an organic, featured, or sponsored placement, and the temporary session id described above. We use this only in aggregate, to understand things like how many people click more than once and which destinations people actually enjoy — not to build a profile of any individual visitor. We do not log your IP address, name, or any other personal identifier alongside these events, and this data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for anything beyond operating and improving RandoSite itself.
Submissions
If you submit a site via the Submit a Site form, we store the URL, name, description, category, and your email if you choose to provide one. Your email is used only to follow up about that submission — we don't use it for marketing and don't share it with third parties.
Cookies
Visitors don't get any tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies — RandoSite doesn't use cookies for any of that. The only cookies RandoSite ever sets are authentication cookies for the site owner's admin login, and those are only set when signing in at /admin; ordinary visitors browsing the site never receive them. Because RandoSite doesn't use cookies or similar tracking technology for analytics, advertising, or profiling, we don't show a cookie consent banner.
Backend and hosting
RandoSite's destinations, submissions, and aggregate analytics are stored in Supabase, a database and authentication provider we use to run the site. Like effectively any website, our hosting infrastructure automatically keeps short-lived technical request logs (things like IP address, timestamp, and requested page) for security and operational purposes, such as detecting abuse — this is standard web server behavior, not something RandoSite adds on top, and it isn't used to track or profile individual visitors.
Third-party destinations
The button sends you to independent, third-party websites that RandoSite doesn't control and isn't responsible for. Once you leave RandoSite, that site's own privacy policy applies.
