Boredom is a solvable problem, it just usually gets solved badly — another lap of the same three apps, none of which actually fix the feeling.
Below is a shortlist of things built specifically to eat ten idle minutes well: quick games, quizzes, the kind of thing you open “just to check” and look up twenty minutes later. All of them are free, none of them want your email address first.

- Lichess — A free, open-source, ad-free chess site with no account required to play.
- Akinator — A genie that can guess almost any real or fictional character you're thinking of, just by asking questions.
- Cookie Clicker — The original incremental clicking game that spawned an entire genre. Bake cookies. Forever.
- Quick, Draw! — An AI tries to guess what you're doodling in 20 seconds flat.
